A person needs an account on your Frappe site and the Raven User role to use Raven. **Settings > Users** gives them both.

## Add a person

Only a System Manager can add people. Ask one to do it.

1. Open **Settings > Users** and click **Add User**.
2. Enter their email address. For someone without an account on the site, enter their **First Name** and **Last Name** too.
3. Under **Workspaces**, check the workspaces to add them to. **Select channels** next to a workspace adds them to channels in it.
4. Click **Send Invite**, or **Add** for someone who already has an account.

A person without an account gets one, and an email from the site to set their password, so the site must be set up to send email.

You can pick only the workspaces you are an admin of, and only channels you are a member of. Open channels are not listed, because everyone in the workspace is already in them.

On Frappe version 15, a person whose roles come from a role profile can't be added from Settings. Give them the **Raven User** role profile in Desk instead. See [Roles and permissions](wiki:696848e65f3a).

## Add system users automatically

**Automatically add system users to Raven**, in **Raven Settings** in Desk, adds every system user to Raven when their account is created or saved. It is on after installation. Turn it off to choose who uses Raven yourself. Only a System Manager can change it.
