It shows what the channel is about, and collects its files, links, threads and pinned messages in one place. ## Open the details panel 1. Click the channel name at the top of the channel. 2. Click **Files**, **Links**, **Threads** or **Settings**.

The panel opens on the right, on the tab you picked. Click another tab to switch. To close the panel, click **×** or press **Esc**. **Members** in the same menu opens the members list. See [Add and remove members](wiki:57096b24fd76).

## About The top of the panel shows the channel name, its description, and who created the channel and when. It stays in view on every tab. Channel admins see a pencil next to the channel name. Click it to change the name or description. See [Change, archive or delete a channel](wiki:90470c06be2a). ## Files The **Files** tab lists every photo, video and document shared in the channel. - Type in **Search...** to find a file. - Use the two buttons next to the search box to switch between a grid and a list. - Click a file to preview it. - In the list, click the download button on a row to download that file. For more about sharing files, see [Files and links](wiki:826558742f8b). ## Links The **Links** tab lists the links shared in the channel. - Type in **Search...** to find a link. - Click the button next to the search box to show links from some sites only, such as YouTube or GitHub. - Click a link to go to the message it was shared in. ## Threads The **Threads** tab lists the threads started in the channel, with who started each one and when. Type in **Search...** to find a thread. To read or reply to a thread, open it from its message in the channel. See [Threads](wiki:785b0aef64bb). ## Pins The **Pins** tab lists the pinned messages in the channel. You can also open it from the pin icon next to the channel name. - Click a pinned message to go to it in the channel. - To unpin a message, point to it and click the unpin button. You have to be a member of the channel. To pin a message, see [Pin messages](wiki:d0ef48df606e). ## Settings The **Settings** tab has the channel actions: - **Channel type**, **Archive channel** and **Delete channel**, for channel admins. The details panel opens from the bottom of the screen.
