If a document has a workflow, you can move it to its next step from its card in the chat. For example, you can approve or reject a document without opening it.

## Take a workflow action

1. Find the message with the document card.
2. Click the workflow button at the top right of the card.
3. Click an action.

Each action shows the state the document is in now and the state it moves to. After you click an action, Raven shows **Workflow updated** and the card reloads with the new details.

If there is nothing you can do at this step, the menu says **No actions available**.

The workflow button only shows for document types that have a workflow. The actions you see depend on your roles. The workflow decides which roles can take each action.
