Document previews set which fields a document card shows in the chat. You choose the fields for each type of document. This works for any document from any Frappe app on your site.

Anyone can open this page, but only a System Manager can change the fields.

## Choose the fields for a document type

1. Open **Settings** and click **Document Previews**.
2. Under **Configure**, pick a document type.
3. Tick the fields you want on the card. Untick the ones you don't want. Type in **Search fields** to find a field.
4. Click **Update**.

Under **Preview**, Raven shows the card for the document of that type that was changed most recently. Pick another document to see its card. After you click **Update**, the preview shows your changes.

## What the card shows

| Part of the card | Where it comes from |
| :--- | :--- |
| Title | The title field of the document type. |
| Image | The image field of the document type, if it has one. |
| ID | The name of the document. |
| Fields | The fields you ticked. |

If no fields are ticked, the card shows the mandatory fields of the document type.

A field with no value is left off the card. Select fields, such as a status, show as a colored badge. Fields that link to a user show the person's name and photo.

## Good to know

- The change applies to every card for that document type, in every channel, for everyone.
- Desk uses the same setting for the preview it shows when you point to a link. Changing the fields here changes that preview too.
- People only see a card for a document they have permission to read.
