If Frappe HR is installed on your site, Raven can use its data. Raven can show who is on leave today, and it can create a channel for each department.

:::note
Only Raven admins and System Managers can change these settings. If Frappe HR is not installed, the settings show a message and can't be changed.

| Setting | What it does |
| :--- | :--- |
| Show if a user is on leave | Shows people who are on leave today. |
| Create a channel for each department | Creates a channel for each new department, and adds the department's employees to it. |
| Department channel type | Whether department channels are **Public** or **Private**. |
| Choose workspaces based on companies | The workspace that gets the department channels of each company. |

The last two settings show only when **Create a channel for each department** is on.

## Show who is on leave

### Turn it on

1. Open **Settings** and click **Frappe HR**.
2. Turn on **Show if a user is on leave**.
3. Click **Save**.

### How Raven knows who is on leave

Raven checks attendance in Frappe HR. A person is on leave today when they have a submitted attendance record for today with the status **On Leave**. Frappe HR makes these records when a leave application is approved and submitted.

The employee record must have the person's user in its **User ID** field. A half day of leave does not count.

### What people see

A palm tree shows on the photo of each person on leave today. Their profile card shows **On Leave**. Point to someone's name in a message to see their profile card.

</picture>

**On Leave** also shows at the top of a direct message with that person.

When you mention someone who is on leave today, a note above the message box says so. You can still send the message.

## Create a channel for each department

### Turn it on

1. Open **Settings** and click **Frappe HR**.
2. Turn on **Create a channel for each department**.
3. Under **Department channel type**, pick **Public** or **Private**.
4. Under **Choose workspaces based on companies**, click **Add**.
5. Pick a **Company** and the **Workspace** for its department channels.
6. Add a row for each company that should get department channels.
7. Click **Save**.

You can't save with this setting on until there is at least one company in the list.

### What happens next

- When a department is created in Frappe HR, Raven creates a channel for it in the workspace of the department's company.
- The channel is named after the department, with hyphens in place of spaces.
- When an employee is created in a department, Raven adds them to the department's channel.
- When an employee moves to another department, Raven removes them from the old channel and adds them to the new one.
- When a department is deleted, its channel is deleted too.
- When an employee is deleted, they are removed from the channel.

Employees are only added if their record has a **User ID** and that user is in Raven.

:::caution
Raven only creates channels for departments made after you turn this on. It does not create channels for departments that already exist. It also skips group departments, disabled departments, and departments of a company that is not in the list.
