Create a workspace to give a team, office or group of people its own set of channels.

Only a Raven Admin can create a workspace. See [Roles and permissions](wiki:59c69c9001eb).

1. Go to **Settings > Workspaces**.
2. Click **Create**.
3. Enter a **Workspace Name**.
4. Add a **Description** if you like.
5. Pick a **Workspace Type**: **Public** or **Private**.
6. Turn on **Only admins can create channels** if only workspace admins should create channels.
7. Add a **Workspace Logo** if you like. Drop an image on the box, or click it to pick a file.
8. Click **Save**.

The new workspace opens in Settings, so you can add members. You are its first admin.

| Option | What it does |
| :--- | :--- |
| Workspace Name | The name shown in the left rail and at the top of the sidebar. |
| Description | A line about what the workspace is for. It shows in the workspace list. |
| Workspace Type | **Public**: anyone on the site can see and join it. **Private**: only members can see it, and only admins can add people. The default is **Public**. |
| Only admins can create channels | When it is on, only workspace admins can create channels. When it is off, every member can. It is off by default. |
| Workspace Logo | A JPG, PNG, SVG or WebP image. Without a logo, the first letter of the name is shown. |

## On the mobile app

You can't create a workspace on the mobile app. Use Raven in a browser on a computer.
