Search

Search finds messages, files, links and polls in your channels and direct messages, across all your workspaces. The command palette, which shares the search box, jumps to people, channels, pages and settings.

The search page, with a result open

Press Ctrl + G, or ⌘ + G on a Mac, from anywhere in Raven.

From the command palette, type what you are looking for, then pick Search for and your text. In a channel, the palette offers a search in that channel and one everywhere. In a direct message, it offers a search in your messages with that person.

Results

A result opens the message on the right. The arrow at the top right goes to the conversation itself. Esc closes the message.

Filter the results

Click Filters next to the search box.

The search filters, on the Files tab

  • Person limits the results to one sender.
  • Channel limits them to one channel or direct message.
  • File type, on the Files tab: one or more of PDFs, documents, presentations, spreadsheets and images.
  • Source, on the Links tab: one or more sites the links point to, such as YouTube, GitHub or Figma.

File type and Source are cleared when you switch to another tab.

A search can be a filter alone, with no text. For example, pick a person on the Files tab to see every file they shared.

The command palette

Press Ctrl + K, or ⌘ + K on a Mac, or click Search at the top of the left rail, and start typing.

The command palette

It finds:

  • People. Pick one to open your direct message with them.
  • Channels.
  • Your workspaces, and the Direct Messages, Threads and Later pages.
  • Tabs of Settings, such as Profile or Preferences.
  • Commands, such as switching to dark mode or setting your status.

On the mobile app

Tap the magnifying glass at the top of the Home or DMs tab, type your search, then tap Search for and your text.
