Preferences change how Raven works for you when you write and read messages.
Open them from Settings > Preferences. To open Settings, click your photo at the bottom of the left rail, then click Settings.

Messaging
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Read receipts | When on, others can see when you have read their messages. When off, they can't, and you can't see read receipts on messages either. It is on by default. |
| Enter key behaviour | Send message: Enter sends, and Shift + Enter starts a new line. Start a new line: Enter starts a new line, and Ctrl + Enter (⌘ + Enter on a Mac) sends. |
| Quick emojis | The emojis in the bar that shows when you point to a message. Click a slot to pick another emoji. |
Raven may suggest emojis under Quick emojis, based on the reactions you use most. Click the suggestion to use those emojis as your quick emojis.
Read receipts are saved to your account. Enter key behaviour and quick emojis are saved in the browser you change them in.
Filtering & sorting
These settings change which channels show in the sidebar, and in what order.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Only show channels with recent activity | Hides channels with no messages in the last 30 days. |
| Only show channels that I have joined | Hides public channels you have not joined. |
| Sort channels by | Recent Activity puts the channel with the newest message first. Alphabetical Order sorts channels by name. |
The two filters work only in a workspace with 15 or more channels. They never hide:
- Open channels.
- Channels in Favorites.
- Channels you put in a sidebar group.
Sort channels by applies to Favorites and to channels outside a group. Each sidebar group can have its own sort order. See Organize your sidebar.
These settings are saved to your account, so they apply on every device.
Quiet hours
When your organization has working hours, Preferences has a Quiet hours section. Messaging after hours sets what Raven does when you send a message outside working hours. See Quiet hours.
On the mobile app
Tap Profile at the bottom of the screen, then tap Preferences. There you can change:
- The sidebar filters and Sort channels by. They work the same as on desktop.
- Time format and Image group layout. See Appearance.
- Quick reactions: tap a slot to pick another emoji.
- Double-tap reaction: the reaction added or removed when you double-tap a message.
