Mention people and channels
Mention someone to get their attention. They get a notification, and the message shows in their in-app notifications. You can also link to a channel in a message.
Mention someone
- In the message box, type @ and the first letters of a name. You can also click the Mention button (@).
- Pick the person from the list. Use the arrow keys and Enter, or click the name.
- Finish your message and send it.

The list shows everyone on Raven, not only the members of the channel.
In the message, a mention of you is highlighted. Point to any mention to see that person's profile card.
If the person is not in the channel
If you mention someone who is not a member of the channel, a note shows above the message box before you send. Someone who is not in the channel is not notified.

To reach them, add them to the channel first. See Add and remove members.
In a thread, mentioning a member of the channel adds them to the thread. Someone who is not in the channel is not added.
If your site uses Frappe HR, the note also tells you when someone you mention is on leave today. See Frappe HR.
Link to a channel
- Type # and the first letters of a channel name.
- Pick the channel from the list.

The channel name shows as a link in the message. Click it to open the channel. Archived channels are not in the list. Linking to a channel does not notify anyone.
On the mobile app
Type @ or # in the message box and tap a name in the list.
