Raven on a computer: the left rail, the channel sidebar and a channel

The left rail

The narrow column on the far left. Point to a button to see its name. A red number on a button counts what you have not read.

Button What it does

Notifications Opens your in-app notifications: mentions of you and reactions to your messages.
Direct Messages Opens your direct messages.
Threads Opens the threads you take part in.
Workspace logos One for each workspace you are in. Click one to open it. Drag them to change their order.
Manage Workspaces Opens Settings > Workspaces. It shows only when there are workspaces you are not in.
Scheduled Messages Lists the messages you have scheduled. It shows only when you have one.
Later Opens your saved messages and reminders.
Your photo Opens a menu to set your status, open Settings or log out.

The channel sidebar

The channel sidebar lists the channels of the workspace you have open.

  • Click the workspace name at the top to switch to another workspace.
  • Click ⋮ next to the workspace name to create a channel, manage channels, or customize the sidebar.
  • Favorites are at the top. Below them are your sidebar groups, then the rest of your channels.

A channel name in bold has new messages. See Organize your sidebar.

The main area

The main area shows what you opened: a channel, a direct message, or a page such as Notifications. Click a channel name at the top for the channel's files, links, threads, settings and members.

Threads and other details open in a panel on the right, next to the conversation.

Settings

Settings opens in a window over Raven. Click your photo at the bottom of the left rail, then click Settings. The shortcut is Ctrl + /, or ⌘ + / on a Mac.

Settings is on the computer only.

On the mobile app

The mobile app has five tabs at the bottom of the screen.

Tab What it shows
Home The channels of your workspace.
DMs Your direct messages.
Threads The threads you take part in.
Notifications Mentions of you and reactions to your messages.
Profile Your profile and status, appearance, preferences, Later, scheduled messages, and Log out.

A red dot on Home means a channel has new messages. If you are in more than one workspace, tap Home again on the channel list to switch workspaces. See Find your way around the app.
