Custom Fields

Frappe CRM understands that every business has unique needs. That's why it offers customization options to tailor the system to your specific workflows. This guide focuses on adding Custom Fields, a powerful tool for capturing additional data relevant to your business.

What are Custom Fields?

The default Lead/Deal pages in Frappe CRM come with essential fields like contact details, organization, owner etc. However, you might need to capture more information specific to your sales process. Custom Fields allow you to do just that.

Adding Custom Fields

Here's how to add Custom Fields to Lead or Deal documents using the Customize Form feature:

  1. Navigate to Customize Form: Use the search bar on your Frappe CRM desk (Switch to Desk) to find "Customize Form."

  2. Select Document Type: In the "Enter Form Type" field under the "Details" tab, choose either "CRM Lead" or "CRM Deal."

  3. Build Your Form: The "Form" tab displays a form builder interface. Use this interface to add your desired Custom Fields. These fields will then be visible on the corresponding Lead/Deal page.

Important Considerations

  • Sections and Tabs: The "Customize Form" interface presents various tabs like "Organization," "Contacts," "Others," etc. These tabs translate to sections on the Lead/Deal page. To add Custom Fields to a specific section, place them within the corresponding tab in the form builder.

    • Hiding Unused Tabs: You can hide tabs that contain fields that you don't want to show by setting their "Read Only" value to "Yes." This removes the corresponding section from the Lead/Deal page.

  • Contacts Section: Adding fields to the "Contacts" tab won't populate them in the Contacts section on the Lead/Deal page. This section is specifically designed to display existing contacts.

  • Reorganizing Sections: By dragging the tabs in the form builder left or right, you can rearrange the order of sections on the Lead/Deal page.

Limitations (Current UI)

  • Not all field types are yet supported in the new UI. This includes Rating, Table, Geolocation, Duration and more. These will be displayed as data fields on the Lead/Deal page.

By effectively utilizing Custom Fields, you can personalize your Frappe CRM experience and capture the data crucial to your sales success.
