Public Bench Update Schedule
Public benches (also called shared benches) get a new build every Wednesday. The build has the latest Frappe, ERPNext and Marketplace app releases. Your site moves to the new build automatically.

Update window
An update starts only between 21:00 and 05:00 in the timezone of your site. This keeps the downtime out of your work hours. A site that is Inactive or Suspended can update at any hour.
Frappe Cloud limits how many sites update at the same time on one server. If your site does not get its turn, Frappe Cloud tries again the next night, and every night after that, until the site is on the new build.
What happens to your site
- Frappe Cloud takes a backup.
- The site goes offline.
- The site starts on the new bench.
Downtime is usually less than one minute. An update that changes the database schema runs bench migrate and takes longer.
If the update fails, Frappe Cloud moves the site back to the old bench. The update shows the status Recovered and your site continues on the old build. If the recovery also fails, the status is Fatal and our team looks at it.
Where to see the status
Go to your site in the dashboard and open the Updates tab. Each update shows its status and its steps.
Can I stop the automatic update?
- Sites on a public bench always update automatically. The Configure button that turns off automatic updates is only available for sites on a private bench.
To control when your site updates, move the site to a private bench. On a private bench you select the apps, the update time and the day.
